Stupid bookies

April 25, 2011 by TheBeautifulGame
Ok, so near my house is this bookies that the odd time I go in and place a small wager at. They are a hole of a bookies, the complete opposite of the likes of Paddy power in Ireland, if you get me.

So anyway, I thought I'd put a very small wager on a Championship game myself and a few friends were discussing so in I go and I put 30 Euro on Halftime/Fulltime Notts Forrest/Notts Forrest for 30 Euro.

The lazy people in this bookies usually don't bother putting a price on your betslip, I'm used to this... More...

Football (soccer) season is ending :(

May 16, 2010 by TheBeautifulGame
After the Champions League, there won't be much football action for me to bet on until about July. I know there is other leagues going on but I don't have a clue about most of em. I'll have to start betting on other sports

Unfortunately for me, I don't have a clue about American sports. NFL, Baseball etc etc. I don't even think there is a way for me to learn. Anyone have any ideas? :D

The only two bets I have ever placed on an American sport was for the Superbowl. Both won which I was pleased about but trying to bet on NFL for a season would prob leave me hanging from the rafters :D.

Ah well, a no betting period for me coming up... I'll last :grrr:

The FA CUP Final

May 11, 2010 by TheBeautifulGame
The FA cup final has been won 9 times by the 'big four' teams in the last 10 years. The exception to this is in 2008 when Portsmouth won it. Chelsea have won it in 2007 and 2009. They will be hoping to win it in 2010 for the double.

Chelsea will be on a high after their 8-0 demolition of Wigan. A game which I think was a complete farce. However, Portsmouth will be looking to take something from their terrible season. Following their horrific financial issues and been relegated from the premier league, they will be looking to win the FA cup.

The prices, Chelsea at best price 1/6 to win the game outright. 11/2 approx on the draw. 12/1 + on Portmouth. Throughout the history of the FA cup, shocking results have happened, the team that has been given no chance of winning has often won it.

This is most definitely not a game to invest high stakes in but I believe a small punt ont he dog Portsmouth may be worth considering.

My pick : Portsmouth.

Poker Players - the 'sitout guys'

May 11, 2010 by TheBeautifulGame
Does anyone else but me have a serious problems with the guys that sitout for the remainder of the game when they have lost say half their chips or so. Usually, you would say that this isn't a problem, there blinds go in and all there are doing is simply losing chips/money.

However, on quite a few occasions, I have seen people sitting out when their is a few people remaining in the sit n go or tournament in the hopes that they can get some kind of cash reward by default and I have seen this tactic work.

I understand people can sit out if they want (I've obviously done it myself for a genuine reason) You have to leave your comp for some reason or another but when it's done in a way that I have noted above (or many other ways that I have noticed) it's really sneaky and annoys me.

Anyone else hate what I call the 'sitout guys' or am I overacting :D

Do all Poker rooms have the 'reducing' rule?

November 17, 2009 by TheBeautifulGame
Reducing:

When a player wins and has more chips than at the start of play, it can be tempting to leave the table, and then immediately return with fewer chips. This is called "reducing" and is not permitted in our poker room. If a player leaves a table they must wait 60 minutes before returning with fewer chips. If they wish to return within the 60 minutes they must sit down with the same amount of chips they left with.
There are also situations when a player has lost money and wishes to return to a table he recently left. In this case the same reducing rule applies. Specifically, if a player sits down with 1,000, loses 200 and then leaves with 800, he must sit down with 800 if he re?joins the same table within 60 minutes

I find this rule a tad ridicolous. Is there any Poker room that does not have this rule? :+clueless

Thanks
